How to Participate in the Network

The Network does not have a formal membership. Participation is open to any group, organization or individual involved in some aspect of grassroots women’s economic development who makes a commitment to share (information, ideas, experiences, knowledge, techniques, materials, etc.) with other groups in the Network.

You can join the network if you are:

A productive group or association: a group of women who have organized to produce and/or commercialize their products together in Latin America and the Caribbean.

An organization or Association: entities that provide services (training, technical assistance or financing) to women’s productive groups and associations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

An individual: consultants, technical advisors, extension workers, or volunteers who work with women’s productive groups and associations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The commitments implied in affiliation with the Network are:

  • respond promptly to communications and requests from participating groups and from the Coordinating Team;
  • participate actively in the elaboration of the Newsletter and Data Bank by sending to the Coordinating Team stories about the productive experiences of grassroots groups, articles of common interest, suggestions for themes to be developed, formulas/recipes/instructions for producing products with commercial possibilities, information about possible sources of financing or other support, reports, announcements of events, or anything else that will help women’s groups improve their capacity and possibilities.
  • inform the Coordinating Team of any change in the group or organization (such as contact information, work areas, resources offered for sharing in the Network, etc.)

The benefits of participation in the Network are:

  • access to information, ideas, productive experiences, techniques, materials, among other things, of more than 1,500 women’s groups and organizations participating in the Network;
  • access to the Data Bank of the Network that contains information about specific projects, experienced  professionals willing to share their knowledge, sources for various kinds of resources, as well as the assistance of the Coordinating Team in your search for the needed resources; 
  • opportunities to participate in conferences, encounters, courses and workshops of interest and use to your group or organization;
  • a practical way to share your acquired experience and lessons learned to help other avoid the duplication of efforts that results from acting alone.
